Hi my name is Lawrence, I live in Igloolik Nunavut and I’m here in Ottawa Ontario for a program called, NYA Next. I’ve been experiencing some new things in Algonquin College, I’m pretty much enjoying this program as I’m learning how to live with college life and seeing more opportunities in the world of endless possibilities.
The things I’ve found challenging while I’m participating in Nya are when I miss my family.
The fun part about it is when I got to walk in the woods and just having a fresh air, after I went to the beach with my cousin, it was relaxing just listening to the waves and enjoying the view while cooling off.
I also got to go to a garlic farm to volunteer with garlic cleaning, it was my first time seeing what a garlic looks like before they get to the stores, and also learnt a bit about it.
The class I have throughout the summer is trades, I found it very interesting. It was cool when one of the teachers showed us the guitar he made, and he showed us what materials he used to make the guitar, it had a very nice sound.
We also went to Carleton University for touring and got to see a jet engine. The engine was Orenda OT-F-3.
Thank you Nya staff for making things possible.
Sincerely,
Lawrence.
